In the world of photography there are artists who chase the perfect image.
And then there are artists who search for the truth inside stories.

Viet Van Tran, winner of the NNC Gallery Challenge 2022, clearly belongs to the second group.

Born in Hanoi in 1971, he graduated from the Hanoi Cultural University and began his professional career as a journalist. Today he works as a reporter for Lao Dong Newspaper. Alongside journalism, photography became his most powerful language: a sensitive gaze capable of moving through everyday life, memory and deeply human emotions.

Throughout his career he has held numerous solo exhibitions and participated in many international group shows across Asia, Europe and the United States. His work has received dozens of international photography awards, including recognitions from competitions such as PX3, IPA, ND Awards, TIFA and MIFA.

We are also very proud that Viet Van Tran has been published several times in our international photography magazine, becoming part of the community of artists who have helped shape the visual research of our platform.

His vision of photography is beautifully simple:

The power of photography is not to create a beautiful image, but an image that tells a story and creates an emotional dialogue with the viewer.

That is exactly what happens when you encounter his photographs.
They do not simply ask to be seen.
They ask to be felt.

Meanwhile, these days we are presenting our catalogues and editorial projects at The Other Art Fair in Battersea Park, in London.

Art fairs are always fascinating ecosystems: meetings, discoveries, unexpected conversations and new artistic paths crossing each other in the same space.

At the beginning of next week we will publish a full report from the fair, sharing what we discovered, who we met, and the creative energies currently circulating in the contemporary art world.

Because art, in the end, is exactly this:
a living network of stories that keep meeting each other.

Some artists simply stay with you.
Olana Light

is one of them.

In the work of Olana Light, the body is not simply present.
It becomes a point of passage.

The UK-based artist develops a practice that moves between sculpture, performance, moving image, and photography, creating works in which the human being reconnects with the natural world in a direct and almost primordial way.

Many of her actions take place outdoors, among trees, wind, stones, urban and natural landscapes. Through wearable sculptures and performative interventions, the body transforms and becomes part of the environment itself. No longer an observer of nature, but one of its living elements.

What Olana Light creates is a kind of “we-world”, a shared space where individual identity temporarily dissolves into something larger: the relationship between living beings, environment, and imagination.

Her performances rarely seek the protected stage of galleries.
They often unfold in public spaces.

Passersby, residents, and people who were not looking for art suddenly become unexpected witnesses. In this way, Light brings art back into everyday life, overcoming economic and cultural barriers that often separate people from contemporary art spaces.

Her career has been supported by numerous awards and recognitions, including Arts Council England, the CAS Emerging Sculptors Award, the Bute Festival Art Award, and selections in several important international art prizes.

Yet what makes her practice particularly compelling is something deeper.

In Olana Light’s work there is no nostalgia for nature.
There is the awareness that we are nature.

And perhaps today, this simple truth is the most radical one.

In 2024 we chose not to assign the award to anyone. Not because of a lack of talent, but because recognition must reflect a real journey, consistent presence and an active dialogue between artist and gallery.

In 2025, we are here. And we are here with Frank Boys.

Each year we select one artist who not only produces a significant body of work, but who actively contributes to the growth of our international community. Presence. Consistency. Exchange. Shared vision.

Within NNC, the path is visible. Follow our monthly selections and then observe, at the end of the year, who has truly grown. The artists who mature, participate, engage and believe in the project remain. Others continue their path elsewhere.

Each Collective is the result of a serious selection process, renewed every year.

Frank distinguished himself through dedication, steady growth and authentic involvement. He did not simply exhibit. He worked consistently, supported the project and built relationships.

As Artist of the Year 2025, he will receive a dedicated catalogue, a promoted virtual solo exhibition and international visibility through our platforms and partner events.

What we are building is not a fast system. It is a new path for art. Slow, sometimes misaligned with the louder mechanisms of the web, but solid.

There are artists who explain. And then there are artists who activate. Juan González Iglesias belongs to the second category.

Winner of our 2023 Challenge, he brought into NNC Gallery a language that feels ritualistic and digital at once. Tribal and cybernetic. Instinctive yet visionary.

After a spiritual awakening at 29, he began merging spirituality with pop culture. Films, video games, music, magazines. Light did not arrive in silence. It arrived through screens, icons, sound. That is where he chose to work.

Today he works with markers on paper. A simple tool. A radical gesture. No technical spectacle. Just repetition, rhythm, intuition.

His compositions are dense, vibrant, almost cosmic. Symbols and abstract forms create fields of resonance rather than fixed meanings. They are not images to decode. They are spaces to enter.

We work with a limited number of artists. We truly go deep into the underground.

Some of these artists are already familiar to us, having been observed and evaluated in previous years. This is part of our curatorial approach: selection is not about chance, but about long-term attention, consistency, and growth.

A key note from the NNC Gallery regulations:
each selected artist may apply for two consecutive years, after which a three-year pause is required.
This rule exists to ensure real rotation, to leave space for new voices, and to keep the curatorial ecosystem open, dynamic, and non self-referential. Growth needs time, but also room to breathe.

We are pleased to share that Barbara Vandendriessche, IG @barbaravdd,
artist of NNC Gallery Collective 19, is presenting her solo exhibition CORPS RETENUS at the Belgian Chocolate Village.

Curated as a dialogue between photography, sculpture, and painting, the exhibition brings together earlier and recent works, drawing inspiration from the Belle Époque and subtly resonating with the atmosphere of the former Victoria chocolate factory.
A contemporary practice that reflects on what is under pressure today: softness, slowness, and vulnerability. The works hold emotion and a quiet sense of tragedy without becoming explicit, searching for a form of beauty that leaves space to breathe.

As we prepare our upcoming Virtual Art Fair, we are pleased to present Bruna Ginammi, @brunaginammi_photographer Italian photographer based in Milan and long-standing member of NNC Gallery.

Active since the early 1990s, Bruna Ginammi is a mid-career artist whose practice has developed through a long trajectory of exhibitions, publications, and institutional recognition, both in Italy and internationally. Her research has consistently focused on people and on the relationship between human presence and the surrounding world, maintaining strong formal coherence through a sensitive and rigorous use of natural light.

Part of NNC Gallery since 2018, her inclusion was based on the maturity and solidity of her research. Over time, her work has confirmed this trajectory, showing continuity, depth, and the ability to evolve without losing its core focus.

Her current practice follows a slower and more deliberate approach to photography. Observation, waiting, and intention are central elements of her process. Environmental concerns, the fragility of ecosystems, and the human body as a measure within broader transformations increasingly shape her recent work, where photography becomes a space for reflection rather than immediate production.

The artwork presented in the Virtual Art Fair is part of this long-term curatorial observation and is also included in our Affordable Art Fair Online, a dedicated curated sales section featuring a focused selection of NNC Gallery artists.

This Virtual Art Fair is not conceived as a simple online exhibition.
It is a virtual environment where artists, curators, and visitors can meet through avatars, move through space, and engage in dialogue around the artworks, reflecting how contemporary art exists today between the web, the metaverse, and the evolving idea of the gallery.

This is our approach:

At our first Virtual Art Fair, inside the metaverse, one of the artists presented in the Illustration & Research section is Nora Lebbos, member of Collective 20 (with us since 2020).

Nora will present three artworks where drawing, writing, and vision merge into a single poetic language. Her practice is deeply narrative: words become lines, lines become spells, and images open inner landscapes shaped by experience, intuition, and context.

Living between Lebanon and Europe, her work has been profoundly influenced by recent history. Some of the works shown were created at the beginning of the Lebanese Revolution in October 2019, others after the criminal explosion of August 2020. These events are not illustrated, but metabolized, transformed into visual acts of freedom and inner resistance.

This Art Fair is not a simple online exhibition.
It is a virtual environment with avatars, where artists, curators, and art lovers can meet, move through the space, and engage in real dialogue around the artworks. A hybrid model that reflects how art today exists between the web, the metaverse, and the evolving idea of the gallery.

The works presented are those through which the artist was selected. Current production can be verified directly through her official contacts.

Not every artist in our Collectives is presented only once.
We follow artists over time, allowing their work to emerge through continuity, dialogue, and long-term curatorial attention.

This is how we present Marta Domínguez, also known as Una ingeniera que esculpe. @unaingenieraqueesculpe

A self-taught visual artist and software engineer based in Spain, Marta works with recycled materials such as newspaper pulp and a minimal palette of acrylic paint. From these simple elements, she creates sculptures that evoke bronze while retaining a fragile, deeply human presence.

Her figures, both human and animal, are not academic representations but emotional forms. In her Cow Alter Ego series, the cow becomes a metaphor for identity, vulnerability, and quiet strength. Ordinary subjects transformed into carriers of meaning.

Marta has been part of our project since 2023.
From this year, we begin to actively present and publish her work, following our slow curation approach: time, coherence, and respect for artistic research beyond trends and shortcuts.

Some works need space to breathe.
Some artists need time to be truly seen.

There are only a few days left to visit Monica De Mitri’s virtual exhibition in our space The Secret Room.

This is a quiet, precise body of work that resists spectacle and grand declarations. De Mitri works with forms that move between painting, sculpture, and installation, deliberately escaping fixed categories. Her practice is rooted in an idea of everyday existentialism: art as an activity fully integrated into life, not separated from it.

Rather than aiming for monumental statements or symbolic heroism, her works emerge from a patient, meticulous process. Paints and inks coexist with scissors, glue, thread, recycled paper, glass drops, and fragments of coloured crystal. The materials are modest, often reclaimed, yet treated with care and respect, as if each fragment already contained a latent form waiting to be revealed.

Influences from fashion, geometry, abstraction, nature, and memory intertwine. Some works echo suprematist structures, others recall textiles, accessories, or fragile relics. Nothing is fixed. The compositions appear suspended, contingent, almost ready to shift or disperse, held together by a delicate balance of gesture and intention.

De Mitri’s art invites a slower kind of attention. It asks us to sense materials not only visually, but tactually, to recognise beauty in what is usually overlooked, discarded, or considered temporary. Painting becomes object, object becomes presence. The artist does not impose meaning; she allows it to surface.

Collective 17 brings together the first core group of artists that NNC Gallery began to observe and monitor at the start of its curatorial project, supporting their practices over time through editorial projects, catalogues, and curated publications.

NNC Gallery is an independent online gallery working through long-term artistic observation rather than short-term visibility. Our practice is based on continuity, memory, and curatorial responsibility.

LESSONS FROM THE PATH | Artist Focus #01: Jenny Holzer
One artist. Two keys: artist and collector.

Contemporary art is a constant furnace of images, ideas, and new languages, arguably one of the most compelling things humans do. And because the field is so vast, emerging artists are not the exception. They are the engine.

In this series we look at artists with established visibility, not to repeat the canon, but to study practice: what the work focuses on, how it is built, and why it holds. The goal is simple: to extract usable insight for artists and a sharper reading tool for collectors.

Artist Focus
Jenny Holzer is central to text-based contemporary art because she shifts language from “message” to structure. In her work, text becomes a device shaped by site, scale, medium, and repetition. Context is not a backdrop. It’s part of the artwork’s operating system.

Holzer engages the grammar of power: phrases that resemble commands, warnings, slogans, and confessions. The work doesn’t merely communicate. It stages conditions in which authority, persuasion, and intimacy become visible mechanisms.

Key for artists
Holzer’s lesson is methodological: reduction, precision, seriality, and control of format. Build a coherent system, then allow context and scale to become meaningful variables within that system.

Key for collectors
With text-based and installation works, value lives in the corpus: series, variants, editions, documentation, provenance, and technical requirements for display and conservation. Here, quality is also archival and operational.

Gesture, Body, and Textile Memory

Lucía Guadalupe Guillén’s work revolves around the body as a silent language. Born in Patagonia and educated between Argentina and Italy, her practice reflects a layered cultural background where memory, gesture and material coexist.

Drawing, painting and stitching converge in her images, transforming the surface into a tactile field. Crayons, pencils, acrylic paint, thread, paper and mixed materials merge into works that appear unified from a distance, while revealing complex textures and constructions up close. The surface often recalls woven tapestries, echoing textile traditions and personal memory.

Women are always central to her research. Faces are deliberately absent, as Guillén considers them too direct an expression of emotion. Instead, she focuses on posture, hands, legs and clothing. Through minimal variations in gesture, the body becomes a site of subtle communication, revealing emotional states, inner tension and identity without narration.

Clothing in her work is never decorative. It acts as structure and presence, reinforcing the expressive power of the body. In some series, the figure disappears entirely, leaving garments as symbolic carriers of absence and imagination. The image does not tell a story but creates a pause, a suspended moment where meaning emerges through form, material and gesture.

Meet the Artist
Today we highlight Deming King Harriman, a mixed media artist based in Brooklyn, NYC. Raised in Miami Beach, she holds a BFA in Illustration with a concentration in Book Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art.

Her visual language draws from archetypes, mythology, fairy tales, and religious symbolism. Through collage and mixed media, she builds dreamlike narratives inhabited by figures suspended between memory, myth, and transformation.

Deming has exhibited internationally, including solo shows at BBAM! Gallery in Montreal and Deep Space Gallery in New Jersey, as well as group exhibitions at Young At Art Museum, The Baker Museum, and the Sagamore Hotel in Florida. She also has more than forty-eight artworks permanently installed on four of Royal Caribbean’s largest cruise ships.

Her work has been featured in major publications such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, Artnet, and The Miami New Times, and is part of both private and public collections including the Miami Dade Public Library and The Leder Art Collection.

Her practice poses a subtle but powerful question: how can contemporary imagery embody archetypes that speak to collective memory while remaining radically personal?

A research-driven curatorial platform where artists are selected, documented, and presented over time, offering curators and collectors a reliable ecosystem of emerging and mid-career artists.

Since 2017, we have operated as an online art gallery grounded in long-term artistic observation.
Our practice is based on continuity, memory, and curatorial responsibility, rather than short-term visibility.

Over the years, we have developed and followed collectives of artists, presenting their work through editorial projects, virtual exhibitions, and ongoing curatorial contexts. Some artists remain within the gallery over time, while others pass through. This evolution is an integral part of our curatorial process.

The Challenge functions as our scouting tool: an open curatorial field where artists enter a cycle of observation. It is not a destination, a prize, or a guarantee of visibility, but a gateway into a longer process shaped by research, growth, and participation.

Alongside this, we publish two magazines and curate virtual exhibitions, extending our editorial and curatorial vision within an international context connected to London and Europe.

We do not accumulate artists.
We observe them over time.
