The Aesthetics of Fragility, the Gesture of the EverydayVirtual Solo ExhibitionVW Virtual | London19 July 2025 – 7 January 2026
The virtual solo exhibition of Monica De Mitri, artist of Collective 18, represents a significant chapter within the long-term research carried out by NNC Gallery London on virtual space as a real site for exhibition, dialogue, and artistic growth.
For us, the virtual has never been a fallback solution, nor a simple digital replica of the physical gallery. Our research began in 2019, with early experiments across multiple immersive platforms, conceived as curatorial tools rather than technological showcases. Since then, each exhibition has been designed in relation to the artist’s practice, the conceptual framework of the project, and the specific language of the chosen virtual environment.
The solo exhibition of Monica De Mitri, hosted in our virtual space The Secret Room, embodies this vision in a particularly coherent and mature way.

The Exhibition
The Aesthetics of Fragility, the Gesture of the Everyday unfolds as an intimate and carefully measured journey. De Mitri’s practice moves between painting, sculpture, and installation, deliberately avoiding rigid classifications. Her work emerges from a slow, attentive process rooted in everyday experience, in repetition, in gesture, and in a profound sensitivity to materials.
There is no ambition toward grand statements or ideological proclamations. Instead, the artist focuses on what is fragile, minimal, and often overlooked, restoring attention and presence to what usually remains at the margins. In this context, the virtual space becomes a place of concentration rather than spectacle, allowing time, silence, and careful observation.
The exhibition is best experienced on desktop, in full screen, with audio enabled, to fully engage with the spatial and perceptual dimensions of the project. The exhibition catalogue is available and forms an integral part of the curatorial framework.

A Research Path Started in 2019
NNC Gallery London began its exploration of virtual exhibitions in 2019, anticipating many of the structural changes that would later affect the contemporary art system. Over the years, this research has taken shape through a series of virtual solo exhibitions, including:
VaRu (Vanessa Rusci)They Will Transform or Erase Us?VW Virtual | New York, 2023
Gordon Coldwell | New York VWORLD NNC, 2022
Eghosa Raymond Akenbor | VWORLD VirtualTokyo, 2022
Pejman Norouzy Artist of the Year 2021 | VWORLD Virtual Paris, 2022
Debora Barnaba, Suzanne Lastrina, Raffaella Stringa | VWORLD Virtual NY, Paris, London 2021ic
These projects helped consolidate a curatorial approach in which the virtual is understood as a meaningful extension of exhibition space, not a substitute for physical presence.

The Secret Room – Special Virtual Exhibition (2021)
In 2021, during the Covid period, NNC Gallery London presented The Secret Room – Special Virtual Exhibition, a large-scale international virtual show curated by Vanessa Rusci.
This project was not conceived as an emergency response to restrictions, but as a deliberate curatorial choice. At a time of global isolation, the exhibition aimed to create a shared space for visibility, reflection, and dialogue, offering artists a concrete platform when many physical exhibition opportunities were suspended.
Participating artists included:
Alberto Cob
Anna Ferrara
Antonio Manta
Sara Camporesi
Chiara Girardi
Deming Harriman
Julia Buruleva
Martina Esposito
MC2.8
Michelangelo Bonitatibus
Patrizia Mori
Pejman Yamanoki
Radmila Urosevic
Rana Hemdan
Camilla Rodriguez Triana
Sergio Campione
Tony Aguero
Tomaso Marcolla
Valeria Pierini
The exhibition was accompanied by dedicated catalogues and carefully distributed through our curatorial and editorial channels. It reinforced a core belief that continues to guide our work: when approached with rigor and care, the virtual can become a genuine space for encounter, not merely a simulation of the physical gallery.

All the exhibitions are documented here.
Why Virtual Exhibitions Matter
We strongly believe that emerging and mid-career artists rarely find real investment in their first solo exhibition. Most begin with group shows, often with limited time, resources, and audience reach. A thoughtfully curated virtual exhibition, instead, allows artists to access a far wider international audience, while maintaining continuity, documentation, and visibility over time.
For this reason, our virtual exhibitions are actively presented to our professional network and disseminated through our editorial, curatorial, and digital platforms.
Looking Ahead
Following the closing of Monica De Mitri’s exhibition, our virtual space will host the solo exhibition of Frank Boyce, NNC Artist of the Year, nominated for both the quality of his artistic production and his long-term involvement in the project.
At the same time, we are preparing the next step of our research: the Affordable Virtual Art Fair, an interactive virtual fair designed to create a concrete meeting point between artists, curators, and collectors, overcoming geographical and economic barriers.
The virtual does not replace the physical. It expands it, complements it, and makes it more accessible. When built with care, it becomes a space where art can truly begin its journey.
