Projeto Versos

“Projeto Versos” arises from old concerns about the face, identities and portraiture. In this project,
made up of 40 images, I take the back as a place for questioning the relationship between being and
seeing, as in the Taiwanese film Yi Yi (2000), by Edward Yang. “I can only see the front of things,
not the back… so I can only know the half of the truth, right?”

Artist Statement

I'm a photographer and an actor.
My art questions the ways of approaching identities as something fixed.
I admire Herb Ritts, Robert Mapplethorpe, Zanele Muholi, John Coplans and other productions.
I dedicate myself to researching, creating and editing self-portraits, investigating the relationship
between light, body and black and white. I develop an aesthetic that emphasizes texture, intensity
and drama, contrasts
