Touched(skin)

For this concept, viewers can physically touch these photographs. Since the pandemic, giving up physical contact and hesitating to connect through touch were normalized, and we have become touch starved. It is possible that as a consequence, not experiencing frequent, active physical contact during childhood may affect development. The experience of touching and being touched is vital for the survival of humankind. However, we are not allowed to touch most photographic works, and doing so is considered taboo. That is why for this project, I want to have viewers experience the sensation and remember it through touching the photos. By doing so it removes the physical border between this media and the body, and photographically captures the sensation humans should never forget-physical connection between parents and child, or other loved ones.

Artist Statement

He has been creating projects with the idea of  leaving one’s existence behind for future discovery as the concept. By considering internal and external structures, he elucidates the ideal state of the next level of humankind, where their physical body and consciousness are no longer connected, due to clones, AI, etc. He has received awards and honours such as being a KG+Select 2023 finalist, and receiving an individual jury award from the TOKYO FRONTLINE PHOTO AWARD 2022. In 2023, along with his participation in the KG+Select 2023 finalist group exhibition, he successfully exhibited his debut solo show, SAVEPOINT at Zen House Gallery (Kyoto, 2023)
