Vetroviola
Gabriele Gentile was born in 1986 in Parma (Italy) and after his studies in classical and humanistic fields, he approached photography as a self-taught artist, rediscovering childhood curiosities such as the semantic and aesthetic attraction for colors and the attraction for obsolete and unexplored places. He thus develops his artistic research towards the concepts of time and space, investigated in every direction -interior and exterior, past, present and future- and projected into dreamlike visions through the intense and expressive use of colors and essential and pure compositions. He has exhibited in various italian cities including Parma, Trieste, Siena and Aosta and has received international awards and publications including one in the prestigious L'Oeil de la Photographie. His series "De sidera" became a book entitled "Dust in Color," published in 2022 in a bilingual (Italian-English) version by Snap Collective Publishing. Since the same year he collaborates with DuePuntoZero Gallery, a modern and contemporary art gallery based in Bergamo.
Deniers
Being a woman is what distinguishes a woman, in every time and place.
In this photographic series entitled "Deniers" –a unit of measurement of
the heaviness of the stocking– I wanted to represent my idea of the modern
woman, a woman who is also fragmented and divided, but who even
though she appears in these shots faceless nonetheless reveals her
womanhood and her many faces, one for every moment of her everyday
life, for every role that today's society entrusts her with, for every corner of
her emotionality.
Today there are so many tasks and missions entrusted to women, but they always manage to adapt and amalgamate chameleonically with the surrounding space, shaping it and intoning it to themselves with their female
strength, until they conquer it.
Shapes become geometry, colour becomes material, harmony becomes
beauty.
