Eryk Pall
French multidisciplinary artist, born in Dijon, now based in Málaga, Spain.
Formed in applied arts, animation and comics at Studio M in Montpellier, he began his career as a video game and animated film designer in Paris and Lyon from 2006 to 2013. This early experience shaped his figurative and narrative approach, which remains central to his practice.
Since relocating to Málaga in 2013, Pall has developed an extensive international exhibition record, presenting both solo and collective shows across Spain, France, Germany, Belgium, China and the United Kingdom. His work has been featured in institutions such as the Centre Pompidou Málaga, the Russian Museum Collection of Saint Petersburg in Málaga, CAC Vélez Málaga, and in contemporary art fairs including Estival, Swiss Art Expo in Zurich, DIBUMAD in Madrid and Art Jaén.
Working primarily with graphite on paper, he often integrates tempera, oil or acrylic, expanding the expressive depth of his compositions. Since 2015 he has also been studying engraving in Málaga, adding a further technical layer to his visual language.
Pall’s practice is marked by a strong narrative tension: a blend of precision, introspection and quiet strangeness that echoes his background in animation and sequential art. His installations and drawings often explore emotional landscapes, memory and movement, creating intimate worlds suspended between realism and imagination.
He has participated in artist residencies at GLO’ART in Belgium and at Kulturmodell in Passau, Germany.
Statement
Eryk Pall’s work is an exploration of self-knowledge and the ongoing transformation that defines the human condition. His practice is grounded in personal analysis informed by anthropology, sociology and philosophy. Through this lens, he investigates both the visible world and the psychological fragility that shapes the way we perceive it. For Pall, the human being is the threshold where reality meets thought: we filter the world to process it internally, becoming the border between external events and inner experience.
Drawing from his own life, he constructs images that expand into a broader, universal reflection on the contemporary individual. His intention is to give form to what is usually invisible: thoughts, psychological states, the interplay between consciousness and the unconscious. The recurring figure in his work, often carrying his own features, functions less as a self-portrait and more as an archetype, a human presence that speaks for all.
As a multidisciplinary artist, Pall chooses the medium that best supports the message. His approach rejects the idea of limiting oneself to a single technique. Instead, he prioritizes clarity of communication, believing that the artist’s responsibility is to translate an idea as directly as possible. Working across drawing, animation, engraving and installation allows him to step outside his comfort zone, confront his own limits, and evolve through the process. Each work becomes both a message to the viewer and an act of self-transformation.

Perspective and Cubes
Cubes are a constant presence in Pall’s drawings. For him, the cube is the origin point of all forms and the purest expression of structure. This stems from his early fascination with perspective, where he discovered the “magic” of creating depth and volume by orienting lines mathematically. The cube becomes both a building block and a philosophical symbol: the beginning of any object, a unit of thought, and occasionally a reference to the digital world, where pixels act as immaterial containers of ideas.
Light, Shadows and Detail
Pall sees drawing as a puzzle. Light placement, shadow construction and the mental exercise of thinking in 3D transform each artwork into a meditative challenge. The more intricate the scene, the more intense the pleasure of solving it. His meticulous graphite technique —always using extremely fine leads from 0.5 to 1 mm, even in works over one meter— reinforces this relationship between complexity and contemplation. For him, drawing is ultimately made of two essential forces: perspective and light.
The Recurrence of the Human Figure
Whether visible or implied, the human presence is central to his work. Since 2017, a recurring character appears throughout his compositions. Often modelled on his own features, this figure is less a self-portrait than a universal archetype: a human being searching for meaning, navigating internal and external worlds. Viewers are invited to step into this character’s position, just as the artist steps into the perspective of others.
Repetition as Meditation
Repetition is both technique and philosophy. It appears in lines, shapes, graphite layers and dense fields of black and grey. Working with such fine tools demands repetitive movements, and this rhythm becomes a form of active meditation. Repetition allows Pall to enter the artwork, suspend the anxiety of time passing, and remain in the present moment.
