Alexandru Constantin Marinete began his artistic journey in early childhood. By the age of eight, he had already discovered the secrets and beauty of sculpting.
A graduate in Sculpture, the artist has established his fine art style through various projects and events, both nationally and internationally. These include: Romanian Business Park – Environmental Sculpture “Horses”, The International Salon of Contemporary Art in Bucharest, Expo 2020–2022 in Dubai, Malvinsky Gallery – Group Exhibition “Brâncuși Month” (Muse Collection), Italy – International Contest of Contemporary Art – Ostara, MoBU International Art Fair in Bucharest, Freedom International Online Exhibition hosted by Barbagelata Contemporary Art Foundation, among many others.
Statement
"From the moment I opened my eyes, I saw stones. I’ve been sculpting since I was eight years old. I had a great example in the backyard: my father. In his workshop, I learned my trade."
Alexandru Constantin Marinete was born in 1980 in Romania. He refined his talent through various courses, mainly studying at the National Art College "Nicolae Tonitza" and later at the National University of Arts in Bucharest, where he earned his degree in Sculpture.
Year after year, his works reflect memories from the different continents he visited or where he had the pleasure to exhibit.
"Sculpture is not really appreciated in our country. I could easily do something else—it would have been much easier—but for me, it’s all about passion. I chose sculpture, and I can say I have no regrets. Once you understand stone, marble, it’s hard to stay away from it. It’s also the artist’s duty to offer something beautiful to society—something that pleases both the eye and the soul."
Through this perspective, the artist conveys his desire to express sensorial perception in his sculpting.
"I find myself in every piece of stone, to which I transfer sublime feelings. The elegance and hardness of marble challenge me to discover its story. I want my creations to captivate not only the eyes of a specialist but also reach the depths of the soul of someone unfamiliar with art. I aim to capture the lives and emotions of those who view my work. The viewer can find themselves in my sculptures. Through my art, I hope to help people express their feelings."
Thus, Alexandru’s art is not only a financial investment, but a sentimental one as well.
But how much sensitivity can there be in a piece of stone? As much as the artist can express.
Birds : My project is about freedom. It's about the freedom of art, and the freedom of our dreams. As Coco Chanel once said: "If you were born without wings, do nothing to prevent them from growing."
I wanted to give wings to my dreams, so I decided to create a collection of birds and flying humans. I gave soul to my artworks, and in return, they gave me hope—the hope to dream and to be free.
This project is about giving people the chance to dream, to not be afraid of flying into the unknown, to be free.
My artworks represent a mélange of contrasts: hard and soft, stone and wings, placed somewhere between earth and sky.
From a spiritual perspective, my works are an anthology of possibilities. How can something as hard as marble or granite fly? It can—with the power of dreams and freedom.
At the same time, sacred and profane coexist in my pieces. Sacredness is expressed through the act of flying and the desire to rise. The profane is found in our everyday lives, in the unspoken feelings that can harden our souls like stone.
We all strive to be strong, yet deep down, we all dream. So let’s do nothing to prevent those dreams from growing. Displayed below are works from various projects.
