Radmila Urošević
UPGRADE 2026
Radmila is an artist whose practice explores painting as matter, volume and spatial presence. Her work moves beyond the traditional idea of painting as a surface, transforming colour into a physical material capable of creating form, density and contemplation.
Her research is rooted in the relationship between solid and liquid painting. Through acrylic paint, layered colour and sculptural supports, Radmila investigates how painting can become an interface between the artist and space. Colour is not used only as an image, but as a territory, a matter of time, perception and transformation.
For NNC Gallery London, her practice represents a significant example of how contemporary painting can expand into object, volume and spatial experience. In her work, painting becomes body, structure and presence. Each layer contributes to the creation of a space that is both physical and contemplative, where colour embodies time and produces form.
Radmila has been followed by NNC Gallery London since 2018 and is a dear long-standing presence within our project. Over the years, she has contributed not only through her artistic research, but also through her collaboration with our blog, confirming a relationship based on continuity, dialogue and shared cultural attention.
Recent updates include a new group of works and a new artist statement, which further clarifies the direction of her practice. Among the new works presented are Blue Bird, 2025, acrylic painting, solid paint, 8 x 8 x 30 cm; Paquet bleu et blanc, 2026, acrylic painting, solid paint, on wooden box, 17 x 17 x 10 cm; and L’or du temps, 2025, acrylic painting on wood, solid paint, 22 x 8 x 14.5 cm.
For collectors, curators, galleries and art professionals interested in contemporary painting, material research, sculptural colour and the expansion of painting into space, Radmila is an artist worth following.
Curatorial note
NNC Gallery London follows artists over time, observing the development of their practice beyond a single application, exhibition or image. Radmila’s trajectory reflects the importance of this long-term approach: an artist’s value is often revealed through continuity, coherence and the ability to deepen a language year after year.
ARTIST STATEMENT
2026
Radmila explores painting both as a solid and liquid material, enabling the creation of volume. Painting is no longer only a surface, but an interface between the artist and space.
Colour becomes a material, used as a matter of contemplation, time, space and territory. Through its layers, painting demonstrates its ability to embody and produce space.

2026 Why Invest in Radmila Urošević
CRITICAL NOTE
Radmila Urošević’s practice occupies a significant position within contemporary painting research, precisely because it questions one of painting’s most persistent assumptions: the idea of the surface as a fixed boundary.
Her work does not treat painting as a flat image, but as a material event capable of entering space, generating volume and changing according to its place of exhibition. Through solid acrylic paint, modular structures and volumetric forms, Urošević shifts painting from representation to presence. Colour becomes matter, surface becomes interface, and the artwork becomes a site of relation between object, viewer and environment.
This approach is particularly relevant in a contemporary context where painting is constantly asked to redefine its role after image saturation, digital circulation and spatial installation practices. Urošević’s work responds to this condition not by abandoning painting, but by expanding it from within. Her solid paint modules suggest that painting can still be a living field of experimentation, able to absorb questions of movement, perception, architecture and point of view.
The connection between her artistic practice and academic research at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne gives her work a strong conceptual foundation. Her investigation into “the surface as an interface” is not only theoretical, but materially embodied in the works themselves. Each piece becomes a way to test how painting can move from support to space, from surface to territory, from image to experience.
For NNC Gallery London, Radmila Urošević represents an artist whose value lies in continuity, coherence and the slow deepening of a highly specific language. Her research is not decorative experimentation with form, but a sustained inquiry into what painting can become when it accepts space, time and the viewer’s position as part of its own structure.
