This is not a stallion” as it is entitled, is a portfolio of particular artistic interest.
Dimitris Lapousis creates new worlds and hybrid entities by using multiple levels and transparency in
his photographic works. Each portrait consists of 100 photographs of animals that differ in breed, color, age and living conditions but belong to the same species. As a result, each photograph of a domestic animal could be the Form of that animal, based on Plato’s theory of Forms. The hazy surroundings of the animals in the portraits is the environment in which they grew. Green meadows of New Zealand, animal farms in Germany or slaughterhouses in the Netherlands. Αs the title suggests, clearly influenced by Magritte, it's not really a stallion, but an imprint of its archetypal form, its universal idea.
