About drawing.
To me, drawing is a "world in-between".
Every person has their own "sanctuary". A pure place, untouched by society, common sense, external
obligations. It's in a recess of the brain, and when it wakes up, I feel an overwhelming sense of suffering,
and also elevated.
This could be what we call "illusion".
It's definitely not a dream.
But it's not real either.
I call it the "world in-between".
Things people can't express, shame, self-hatred, confusion. A suffering that prompts to run away, it
insinuates in the sanctuary. After eroding itself, it rusts blacks and turns into a notch, which forms a deep
cave.
Before it does turn black, I want to capture the scenery of this sanctuary.
This is because, whether it’s true or not I feel like all my knowledge of the World is there.
This has been a burden for a long time; When I graduated university, I kept reflecting about my own life,
and this conflict and confusion seemed to take more and more time away from the creation.
The rush of pain that always comes with it is still eating me.
But still I keep coming back. That is because it's also my only way to run away from the pain.
After this time reflecting on the intersection between my art and my life, it seems difficult to reach
happiness, like a long and endless voyage of illusions.
But in the end, the suffering but also all the bliss I have, it all comes from this "sanctuary", in the "world
in-between".
