Second step to participate in the Collective 25
Challenge 2025

2 level
only one application per year

Artists who win the Annual Challenge may become gallery artists.

NNC Challenge – Second Step

Please read carefully before proceeding

We are looking for artists for Collective 25 — artists who will enter our gallery.

What this step is

This Second Step is reserved for artists whose work has passed the free pre-selection through our monthly open call.

By confirming this step, the artist officially enters the NNC Monthly Challenge, a curated evaluation process designed to observe artistic quality, coherence, and professional development over time.

The Monthly Challenge

The NNC Challenge operates on a monthly cycle.

Each month:

  • artists admitted to the Challenge are evaluated by the curatorial team

  • a limited number of artists are selected as Monthly Challenge Winners

Being admitted to the Monthly Challenge does not guarantee winning, publication, or visibility.
All decisions are made through curatorial evaluation.

From Monthly Winner to Annual Challenge

👉 Only artists selected as Monthly Challenge Winners gain access to the Annual Challenge.

The Annual Challenge represents the final curatorial selection phase of the NNC process and is the only entry point to the NNC Collectives.

Artists who do not win a monthly cycle do not advance to the Annual Challenge, but their work may be archived and considered for future curatorial opportunities, according to internal evaluation.

From the Annual Challenge to the Collective 2026

At the end of the Annual Challenge, the senior curatorial board selects a limited number of artists from among the Annual Challenge Winners.

These artists may be invited to join the new NNC Collective, which will be formed in 2026.

Entry into the Collective is:

  • by curatorial invitation only

  • not automatic

  • based on quality, coherence, professional growth, and alignment with NNC values

Artists entering the Collective:

  • receive a dedicated artist page on the NNC Gallery platform

  • are included in the official curatorial archive

  • enter a long-term monitoring and development path (up to two years)

  • may be progressively introduced to curators, galleries, and collectors within our network.

Fee and transparency

The Second Step requires a one-time registration fee of €45, requested only after free pre-selection.

This fee covers:

  • curatorial evaluation

  • administrative processing

  • inclusion in the Annual Challenge selection pathway

Payment does not guarantee:

  • winning the Monthly Challenge

  • access to the Annual Challenge

  • publication

  • inclusion in the Collective

No additional mandatory fees are required to remain in the Challenge process once admitted through this step.

Optional initiatives outside the Challenge are always described in separate, specific calls and do not affect an artist’s status within the Challenge.

Curatorial opportunities during the process

Artists admitted to the Second Step may be considered, according to curatorial relevance, evaluation stage, and editorial planning, for:

  • curated virtual exhibitions

  • editorial content and interviews

  • potential inclusion in print and digital publications

There is no automatic publication and no guaranteed visibility.

Artist Support Fund

NNC maintains an Artist Support Fund for artists facing verified financial hardship or residing in eligible countries.

Support requests must be submitted before confirming the Second Step and are evaluated case by case, subject to availability.

What to prepare

Applicants must submit:

  • five artworks (different from those previously submitted)

  • artist bio (max 100 words, including links)

  • artist statement

  • brief project description

Images: JPEG, 300 DPI, 20 × 30 cm, max 25 MB
Texts: PDF or Word only

Incomplete or low-quality submissions may not be considered.

Important notes

  • Applications are accepted once per year

  • Selection, progression, and publication decisions are made by the curatorial board

  • No artist can claim automatic publication, representation, or inclusion

Timeline of the Annual Challenge

The final phase of the 2025 Challenge will take place during the early months of 2026, when the Annual Selection will be completed.

The official curatorial presentation and promotion of the artists selected for Collective 25 will begin in 2027, once the Collective has been fully finalized.

This timeline reflects the depth and rigor of our curatorial process.
We deliberately work over an extended period in order to ensure that all materials presented to curators, gallery partners, collectors, and art professionals are carefully evaluated, contextualized, and professionally documented.

Our approach prioritizes quality, consistency, and long-term credibility over speed, allowing artists to be introduced to the professional art system under the best possible conditions.

Fees and special conditions

For artists based in countries affected by unfavorable currency exchange rates, embargoes, or ongoing conflicts, special conditions may apply.

In these cases, access to the Artist Support Fund or fee reductions is evaluated case by case, according to the criteria outlined in our Policy.

Artists who believe they may be eligible are invited to contact us before applying for further information.
